One of the projects I've been working on is to ideate some new printer concepts. I'd like to make a more portable printer for people who are nomadic or live in small places where they can't afford to have their printer be another piece of furniture. College students, contractors who like to print receipts on the job, ect.
First, some colleagues and I took apart a printer to learn more about its anatomy. This way, we could design components for inside the printer rather than just the printer's external structure. A professor instructed us about the rollers, paper paths, and how inkjet printers bring ink across a page.
So here's a sketchbook page documenting the needed printer parts, my target audience, as well as a few printer sketches.
